Founded in France in the nineties by Dominique Kieffer, this was the first line I came across that looked at linens as a luxury fabric. Back then, I recall being struck by their lightness — not just in weight, but in color too: quite unlike anything in nature. What moved me was seeing how the fabrics softened in Dominique’s commanding hands; like water on marble. But it was only on visiting her Parisian bolthole — bohemian, lowkey, lived-in — when I realized that what she was really delivering was how one can choose to live. Today, that torch has been passed to new owners Rubelli and creative partners Formafantasma.
